Swimming in the Anthropocene: Embassy of the North Sea at Het HEM

On the 16th of November, The Embassy of the North Sea will have a special event in Het HEM, an old munition factory in Zaandam.

Welcome to the Anthropocene. To face this new era, we will have to look in a radically different way at ourselves, nature and the planet. What new forms of perception, representation, research and language do we need? What does it mean to live together in these times? What do our institutes look like? At the Embassy of the North Sea, things, animals and plants in and around the North Sea get a voice. In a programme with art, scent, sound, conversations and rituals at Het HEM, we share our research into the imagination and political representation of non-people such as cod, sandbanks and plankton. Come, learn, listen, play and swim in the Anthropocene.
