The Amphibious Culture: A History of Coping with Disastrous Floods

With climate change and rising sea levels the threat of flooding increases in low-lying areas all over the world. The Netherlands are famous for their long history of surviving floods. How did people cope with floods in the past? Are there lessons to be learned for the future? This lecture was made for ‘Tell me your story’,https://fb.watch/bY2nR4k_u2/, a project in India aimed at promoting environmental awareness and other issues of global concern by story telling and writing, thus popularising results of academic research.
