On November 1st 2024, CLUE+, ASI Biodiversity and Resources Cluster and the Environmental Humanities Center organise the symposium “What Wolves Want – Animal-Human-Connections in the Anthropocene” at VU Amsterdam.

The symposium deals with the relationships between wolves and humans, and the wolves’ ecosystem-wide impact. The role of the wolf and wolf-human relationships are evolving with the return of the wolf to the Netherlands and the European Commission’s proposal to change the protection status of the wolf in the EU. During the afternoon-filling programme, an ecologist, an environmental philosopher, an anthropologist, a writer, a veterinarian, a film director and the VU orchestra will grant insight into the ecological impact of the wolf and wolf-human bonds.

The symposium will be followed by a screening of Cees van Kempen’s enlightening and thought-provoking “Wolf” from 18:30 until 20:00.

When: November 1st 2024, 13:00 – 17:00
Where: NU Building, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Theatre 5
