On 18 and 19 September 2026, LCOY NL will take place again: the place for young people to come together, learn new things and take action for the climate. And we’re not doing this alone: a Global Conference of Youth is organised in more than 100 countries!

What is it?
The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is the climate summit for young people, organised annually in various countries around the world. The aim of this event is to bring together young people in the Netherlands from all different backgrounds to learn about climate-related issues, discuss these issues with one another, and provide input for the National Youth Statement, which will be presented at the upcoming climate summit in Turkey (COP 31).
What will the LCOY be about?
The climate is an incredibly broad topic. At actual climate summits, discussions focus on issues such as how we can combat climate change, what we can do to learn to live with a changing climate, how we can do so in a smart and fair way, how we’re going to pay for it all, and how we can ensure that everyone – including young people – can get involved. The main 4 topics of this year’s LCOY will be: Just Transitions and Mitigation, Youth Empowerment, Adaptation, and Mother Earth.
These will be the topics we’ll be discussing at the LCOY, but we’re also very keen to hear about your own experiences with climate issues. Do you feel you don’t know enough about this to join in the discussion, but would like to learn more? That’s exactly why you’re welcome to come along!
